DR. TERESA HUMMLER

Hello and welcome to my website!

I am Teresa Hummler, a political scientist at the Department of Political Science of the University of Duisburg-Essen. I am a postdoctoral researcher in the project ‘Protest groups in the aftermath of mass protest campaigns’ (Principal investigator: Prof Dr. Johannes Vüllers).

I obtained my Ph.D. in political science in November 2025 with the dissertation entitled: Unpacking the Role of Local Contexts: How Local Contextual Characteristics Influence Individuals' Political Attitudes in Western European Societies.

Previously, from October 2021 until September 2025, I worked at the Working Group of Empirical Political Science led by Prof. Dr. Achim Goerres, particularly in the project ‘Social openness, social control, and the integration of Muslim immigrants – A panel study in neighborhoods of selected German cities’ (LiV) (PI: Prof. Dr. Conrad Ziller), which investigates the influence of the neighborhood on socio-cultural and political attitudes of Muslim immigrants and the receiving German society.

My main research interests include political attitudes, protest movements, immigrant integration,as well as neighborhood effects.
